What events are on in the Commonwealth for Queen’s Birthday

Each year, millions of people across most of the 52 Commonwealth countries get together to celebrate Queen's Birthday. Why not make the most of the long weekend and check out some of the events on a mini-holiday?

Here are our top picks for this year's Queen's Birthday festivities:

Australia

For some exciting celebrations in your own backyard, there are plenty of options to choose from. Hop over to Sydney for some exciting celebrations in your own backyard.

Enjoy the view of the harbour as you dine at one of Sydney's waterfront restaurants. While you're at it, take in the city's largest arts and culture event, Vivid Sydney, which brings landmarks to life with coloured lights.

Travelling with kids or feel like embracing your inner teenager? Head to Luna Park for some traditional fun times on your favourite rides!

New Zealand

A short jump over the ditch let's you enjoy some exciting horse racing in Auckland at the Queen's Birthday Weekend Raceday and Ellerslie Awards. It's a great opportunity to get dressed up, root for your favourite horse and enjoy the festive atmosphere with a group of friends.

If you're after a more musical experience though, we suggest you head to the Wellington Region for the Queen's Birthday Music Festival. The Friday night Jazz Gala is a star-studded extravaganza, with the likes of Tony Lindsay from Santana taking part in the celebration.

The United Kingdom

If you want to make a longer holiday out of the celebration, why not pay a visit to the queen herself? You can get close to the action at the traditional Major General's Review (June 3rd), Colonel's Review (June 10th) or Trooping the Colour (June 17th).

Both reviews are rehearsals for the main event, which sees more than 1400 officers, personal troops, the Household Division and the queen herself parade from  Buckingham Palace all the way to Horse Guards Parade via the Mall.

The public can view the events, which begin at 10 a.m., and enjoy the atmosphere along St James's Park. It's set to be an unforgettable trip to London!

Once you've decided where you're going to celebrate, make sure your book your car in with Pacific Airport Parking for the cheapest Melbourne airport parking. After all, you want to spend your money celebrating, not worrying about your vehicle.
